Fiona + Ian

Fiona & Ian got in touch from their home in New York, looking to have us capture their destination wedding in Whitstable. They were both wayward travelers, poets, dreamers. True Romantics. We were so excited to be a part of it all and meet all the wonderful people they had in their life.

We first met 11 years ago and in New York that no longer exists. As versions of ourselves that now feel like distant memories. You were Fiona Goldstein, the kindred Irish Jew I never knew I was looking for. Each of us was lost and then we found each other again, this time almost by accident. All it took was a lunch and a stroll around the La Brea Tar Pits. In those first few moments I knew, and when we first kissed, I knew. I knew that there was life before I met you and life after and I simply couldn’t imagine life without you in it. 

As I started to write out what I wanted to say today. I was overcome. With so many thoughts and feeling, where should I even begin? I guess the best place to start is where we met which seems like a lifetime ago. But what is exactly the same is the feeling I had then and the feeling that I have now.  

I promise to remember that our Story is far from over. And with many more chapters left to write. That it takes the two of us collaborating together. To craft the ending that we both hope for. We may have found each other again at lower points, but as we stand here today at our highest moment I can finally see just how truly wonderful life with you is going to be. And it just makes me so excited for what’s to come. 

I realised pretty quickly that I didn’t want another 10 years to go by without you in my life. I wanted to be with you forever. I feel like everything in my life has led me to you. My choices, my heart breaks everything. When we’re together, I know that my past has been worth it. Because if I did one thing differently, I wouldn’t be standing here with you. 

I don’t know what life has in store for us. I don’t know how your Story will end. I just know that today I commit to your lifetime with you as my love my partner, my best friend, my baby, my one.
